The overarching goal of CASCADE is to establish the necessary fundamental principles from which Aerial Robotics can be launched to the mass market of commercial applications. In order to achieve this goal, CASCADE will deliver a set of case studies designed around specific end users applications.
CASCADE will run twelve two-year case studies, over two tranches, T1 and T2. The T1 case studies have already been selected. Their outputs will guide the selection of the case studies for T2. The diversity and scale of the case studies will provide adequate “in the field” validation and verification of the risk models that will underpin and unify all the case studies. A final ‘Capstone’ case study will take all the understanding from T1 and T2 and combine them to prove that CASCADE has generated enough knowledge and expertise to tackle a multi-faceted real-life challenge (to be determined in due course).
